Comment from a user, please respond to this if you have suggestions

Hi all ... I've got a 2008 VStar 1300. I am thinking about changing the pipes & intake. Looking for suggestions on a solid EFI controller to keep the bike running smooth after the operation.

  1. I don't have an answer for you but would be interested in your impressions, good and bad, of the 1300. I am 6.4' and for the most part comfortable on my 650, but am looking for something a little more significant. What about handling, safety, comfort for both me and my rider, power, and reliability?

I'm 5'11" ... The bike is no problem. The 28" seat makes it ez at stop. Very low center of gravity makes the 720lbs feel lite. I opted for the 1300 over the 1100. Both are approx the same weight ... But unlike the 1100, the 1300 is equipped w efi and is water cooled. I have the tourer and did not like the tall shield as the std. I've replace w a short shield w a quick release bracket. Still looking to get quick rlse hardware 4 the tall shield. The bike handles great on short & long rides & handles extremely well @ low speeds.. Replaced coventional motor oil w synthetic which smoothed out the gear shifting. Std seats for Both rider & passenter are very comfortable. Only have 4400 mi on it ... Brought it in for init maint for warranty purposes & did the second oil chg myself ... No headaches. Have not yet attempted valve adjust or other work to give pros / cons on maint. So far I am very pleased w the purchase!
